What makes a muscle car like the brand new 2010 Ford Mustang even more exciting?  A performance edition of the model produced by Roush.

The 2010 Roush Mustang 427R is an incredible machine.  The stock 4.6-liter engine has been tuned and supercharged to crank out 435 horsepower, up from the stock 315 on a Ford Mustang GT.  That's not really special in the performance world, though.  Special edition packages almost always have significant performance boosts.  What makes the 2010 Roush 427R unique is that the car has the pwoer boost, and has better fuel economy.  You read that right:  the carbon emissions have been cut by 38% and fuel economy has been increased by 10% over the stock Mustang GT model thanks to efficient breathing and a sophisticated intercooling system.

The 427R also features the suspension, braking, and cosmetic upgrades that Roush has become known for.  Special 14-inch slotted and vented brake rotors have been added to the front, along with four piston calipers.  Fitted over these brakes are special Cooper Xeon tires on either 20-inch cast wheel or 18-inch forged wheels.  The Cooper tires were specially designed for the 427R and feature an impressive tread index for superior grip.  Suspension upgrades will allow cornering with a full 1.00 g of force, and as you can tell from the pictures, the styling upgrades give the car even more style than the stock model.

The 427R is expected to hit 0-to-60 mph at a little above 4 seconds and complete a quarte mile in about 12 seconds.  Test models of the 427R haven't been made available yet, however, so exact timings haven't been completed.

The 2010 Roush Mustang 427R will have a price tag of about $48,000 and the vehicle comes with a full factory warranty.  However, considering that the Shelby GT500 model of the Ford Mustang will be released soon and will have about the same price and 510 horsepower, the Roush 427R will probably only appeal to hardcore Roush fans.
