What is it about muscle cars, and being an American?  Why can a red blooded lad living in the United States be satisfied looking through the Auto Shopper magazine, for hours on end, or spend long amounts of time pausing over the ads for muscle cars?  For an outsider, it is a hard hobby for some to fathom.  If you have never sat behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang, or a GTO Pontiac, you likely will not be able to relate.

Americans are fascinated with the speed, the power, and the whole package that is the American muscle cars.  It is a fascination born of ownership, there are a lot of fans of muscle cars, but that is nothing compared to the person who has managed to have their own muscle car.  Once you own one, you will never truly be the same thereafter.  Fans of muscle cars will go out of their way to view and take a look at other muscle cars, sometimes traveling great distances out of their way to gawk and ooh, and ahhh.

It’s not about peer pressure, or about impressing other people. True, if you own a muscle car you likely will impress plenty of people, the American Muscle car is a one of a kind sort of experience, not to be missed.  No, for most people the Muscle car is about excitement, the deep in the gut sort of thrill you get when you hear the revving up at a swap meet, or the sensation of driving your car way out in the country and letting your muscle car open up, and see what she can do.  Many people have had the passion for muscle cars for years, and are not sure exactly where it came from.

A muscle car is unique; it is a little different for every person who owns one.  First, they are a performance vehicle, and as such each person will adjust, or tweak their car a little differently.  No two cars are exactly alike anyway, but in the case of muscle cars, it is especially the truth.
A true muscle car is a thing of beauty, and not the least of which is they possess a lot more power than the typical vehicle.  A large engine, and gear ratios designed to optimize performance, along with a boss look to them makes muscle cars an experience true to life.

If you come into possession of a muscle car, and you take the time to restore it, and muscle it up with improvements, you are in effect an artist.  Your muscle car, when you are done restoring it, is like a fine wine, aged to perfection, with a little bit of the personality of the vineyard and the winemaker in every bottle.  Well, in each part of a muscle car resides a little bit of the owner, and the different ways that muscle cars can be individualized is truly amazing.

No matter what the reason, the American Muscle car is a one of a kind experience.  It doesn’t matter if we are restorers, owners, or just fans; we all enjoy the experience that is truly the American Muscle Car.
