The latest version of the ute (small ‘u’) from Holden has made great improvements over the previous model to become a car that you will enjoy for its great looks and its great speed. The VE Commodore line has featured lots of different models of cars – the Calais four door variant of the VE Commodore was sleek and smooth looking, while the S-series sedans produced by Holden had a lot of extras attached to the outside of the vehicle. The VE Commodore ute is appealing, however, for its appearance and for the high degree of performance which it provides to the driver.

Holden has identified the draw of the VE Commodore ute and marketed it as a two-door sports car. The ute was originally designed to have the versatility to be able to carry machinery, tools, or whatever else around building sites and to function as a cross between a car and a truck with carrying capacity in the back and performance gear in the front. The VE Omega ute still functions perfectly well if that is all that you are looking for out of your next vehicle purchase. The VE Commodore ute is less practical and more fun to drive.

What are the features of the VE Commodore ute that make it so much fun and put it in the category of the muscle car? First of all, the VE Commodore ute differs from the VE Commodore sedan by its wheelbase. A longer wheelbase on the VE Commodore ute gives it greater stability – this combines with the low suspension of a sedan style vehicle to provide excellent handling along with strength that may surprise you.

The VE Commodore ute is also powered by a V8 engine which you can control using a six speed manual gearbox. This makes it easy for you to get great performance on any kind of road – open up the V8 engine on the freeway and you can experience the thrill of high speeds and roaring power from your VE Commodore ute.

In addition to the great speed and performance that you get out of this “two-door sports car” the VE Commodore ute also provides some of the same functionality as the earlier utes in terms of carrying things for you – equipment can be easily loaded into 240 litres of internal storage space along with the lined tray and tie downs in the back which are standard across all models, giving you a significant improvement over the earlier VE Commodore ute which has only 90 litres of luggage space inside the cab.

These changes make it a lot easier both to get where you are going and to take a lot more with you for when you get there. All in all, Holden has produced a winner with the VE Commodore ute – a very functional car / truck vehicle which combines excellent muscle car power and speed with the capacity to get the job done whenever you have things that you need to haul for a quality buy.
